Meet Thea O.

Listen to the small talk of your body – it’s the best thing you can do to set yourself up for a sustainable career.

Specialising in

Healthy, Sustainable Leadership

Body Intelligence

I help individuals and organisations establish healthy and sustainable work practices. Body Intelligence , which helps people work in tune with the design of their bodies,  supports leaders to sustain their health and offer the best leadership they can. I help you  to inoculate yourself against burn out and take your leadership to the next level.

Healthy Work Culture

I not only support individuals to cultivate healthy, sustainable ways of working but also work with teams to shape healthy norms. Wellbeing is a key driver for millennials and their retention. I support organisations to embed wellbeing into every day business practices.  Placing flexibility and  sustainability at the heart of your culture supports diversity and inclusion across the organisation.

My Approach

Working in a healthy, mindful way impacts our leadership capabilities and can improve our ability to be creative and resilient in the face of complex problems and situations.  Practices that support wellbeing are a ‘must have’ career progression strategy or for any future leaders program.

I’m a senior workplace wellbeing advisor, presenter, writer and coach. I work with teams and individuals in organisations helping them to develop healthy, sustainable and effective work practices. My work over the last 25 years has spanned nutrition (as an accredited dietitian), body image, sleep science, workplace and public health.

In all of these arenas I consider myself a long-standing advocate of the body in a culture that drives us to over-ride our natural rhythms, push ourselves to the limit then rely on artificial stimulation to get us through the day. I champion the concept of body intelligence as I believe that BQ is key to help you not just survive, but thrive in the modern, digital age. As a Naptivist, I love to promote a mid afternoon renewable energy break as an alternative to yet more coffee and sugar.

At the heart of all my work is the vision of re-humanising our work ethic and work cultures allowing people bring their whole selves to work.

Let’s work together

Deakin Institute

Thea has been a key expert speakers at the Alfred Deakin Institute’s Women’s Leadership Workshops since their inception in early 2016. Thea’s sessions consistently receive outstanding feedback from workshop participants. She exhibits expert knowledge of the subject area and the information she presents on wellbeing and stress management for those in leadership positions is interesting, up-to-date, and evidence-based. Based on my experience of working with Thea, I highly recommend her.

Dr Rebecca Barlow, Senior Research Fellow.
Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation.

Thea has an outstanding capability, and is a leader in her field. She is a skilled researcher and journalist and uses these skills to stay at the leading edge of health sciences, which is the basis of her work. In terms of facilitation and presentation, she has a high level capability; I consistently receive feedback from staff at all levels of the organisation that they have valued Thea’s sessions and have been able to apply their learning.
